A domain name should reflect the new business name and it's brand and offerings, it is the driving force to any new business. Last year we saw an explosion of growth for the secondary domain marketplace, as more new businesses purchased the ideal domain name to drive their brand.

Your Domain Name and Your Website Name (should be one in the same)
Naming your site after your domain may seem obvious, but you'll be surprised to learn that not every website is named after the domain name even when the webmaster owns that domain name.

Naming your new business site after its domain name is important, the simple reasoning is that when people think of your website, they'll recognize it by it's name. If your name is also your URL address, they'll automatically know where to go. For example, when people think of BIZ USA Online, they don't have to wonder what URL address to type into their browser to get here. The name of the site is also the URL address - (www.bizusaonline.com).

Don't lose sales? example
What if our business (or website) is called "BIZ USA Online", but somebody else holds that domain name. Instead, we have some obscure domain name called, let's say, "mybusiness.com". What happens when our customers, recalling that BIZ USA Online has advertising they want, type "www.bizusaonline.com"? They'll wind up at our competitor's website. Then we lose a sale.

In the internet world, where millios of people automatically turn to the Web for information, it pays to have a domain name that reflects your site or business name.

  • Visitors don't want to remember an unrelated URL address to your site.
  • The Competitors who want to compare our prices.

Questions about your domain name of your choice?  and How can you acquire it?
  • How committed are you to that particular name.
  • If you have an existing brand name that you're known for, you'll probably not want to ditch that name just because you couldn't get the domain name.
  • After all, it took you a lot of time and money to establish that name. Try to buy the domain name from the current owner.
  • Check up the "whois" information for the domain at www.whois.com, and contact that person listed to see if they're willing to sell it.
  • You probably should be aware that they will charge a higher fee than you'll normally get when buying new domains (assuming they want to sell it in the first place).
  • You may want to consider the cheaper alternative of trying to obtain a domain name first, and then naming your website (or business) after the domain that you've acquired.
